The customer’s brief was to make an occasional table using oak sourced locally from the National Trust’s Ashridge Estate.
The tabletop of this delightful piece comes from an oak tree that died standing and was left to weather, allowing moisture to create shakes and deeper colour tones within the grains.
The table legs and frame are fashioned from weathered oak fence posts foraged in Hoo Field in Little Gaddesden.
There is a beauty in the imperfections of the wood that when embraced adds to it’s character and gives real depth to the piece.
We like to see the potential in the imperfections – hence our desire for them to be key features of our furniture. They’re part of what makes each piece unique, with a beauty all of its own.
