oak and cherry fitted cupboard
Nick and Laura needed a large fitted cupboard in which to store a lot of kids toys and other paraphernalia that there three children would normally leave out to clutter the downstairs with.
The cupboard dimensions are 2.425m x 2.425m which allowed sufficient space for four storage areas, each with two solid oak shelves, perfect for large plastic containers, heavy boxes, toys and other large items.
Each section is shut away from view by a pair of shaker style oak framed cabinet doors with cherry panels.
The lovely character oak boards for the cupboard frame and cabinet door frames were made from trees felled and milled locally (2 miles away). The cherry was sourced from a little further away, but not far! The boards were cut in such a way as to ensure that each piece that was positioned next to another in the final assembly was originally from the same board, so that I could maintain the continuity of the grain.
