The customer’s brief was to make a coffee table using oak sourced locally from the National Trust’s Ashridge Estate that would take centre stage in a cosy, yet busy, family sitting room.
The single slab top and frame of this delightful piece comes from the trunk an oak tree that was felled 15 years ago then left to weather, allowing moisture to create shakes, holes and deeper colour tones within the grains.
There is a beauty in the imperfections of the wood that when embraced adds to it’s character and gives real depth to the piece.
We like to see the potential in the imperfections – hence our desire for them to be key features of our furniture. They’re part of what makes each piece unique, with a beauty all of its own.
