this playground is a bespoke playground made specifically for the space, an unused boundary area of the garden, close enough to the house to be able to monitor the children using it, but far enough away for it to be an adventure.
the playground consists of two stilted structures made from english larch and welsh cedar sourced direct from a local shropshire mill. each end-treated post is sunk 2ft into the ground and tamped with soil to prolong its life. bearers were then notched into and bolted to the posts to form an extremely solid and stable structure, suitable to bear the weight of the rope bridge, the den and slide.
the brief was to provide a space for six grand children to play in, that would aid with their physical development, improving balance and gross motor skills, and stimulate their imagination through creative play.
the resulting playground has created a circular flowing play space that encourages children of all ages to walk up the steps and move through the different zones, each providing a different stimulus, to then start all over again and keep them amused for hours!
If you are interested in providing such a experience for your children or grand children, please call me with your ideas and we will be happy to provide scale drawings and a quote.
